Harmony Lincs were saddened by the death of Dennis Knight on February 18th 2007 after a long progressive illness.   A member of the chorus since 1994, Dennis never let his illness dampen his enthusiasm for singing and support for the chorus even to the point when breathing difficulties caused his attendance in a wheelchair and forced his retirement from singing.

Dennis started singing as a choirboy and head chorister before joining the Royal Navy at 17 where he rose to Petty Officer before changing over to the merchant navy to see the world all over again from the liner Oriana. On his return to land Dennis became an engineer and took pride in maintaining the boiler system at St. Georges Hospital in tip top condition.

It was at this time that Dennis joined Lincoln Orpheus Male Voice Choir and the New Life Singers.   An active man, Dennis had a wide range of interests including music, fishing, gardening (he could always be relied on for a few cabbage or tomato plants) and caravanning all of which he shared with his second wife Betty.  One of his later interests, his digital camera, meant that Dennis was everywhere during singouts and gatherings taking photographs which he took great joy in handing round to the subjects later on. He was an example to everyone of what barbershopping is about, the friendliness, cooperation and loyalty to the chorus,  his was the face that most new members saw first as he made it his business to greet everyone at the door on rehearsal nights.  Hi cry of "the Nooooo" at the end of the last songs will be missed for a long time to come.
