Harmony Lincs

Lincoln Barbershop Harmony Club

Ted Tompson
1943 - 2006

We were all deeply shocked when our chairman, John Mould , announced the sudden death of Ted to the Club. We stood  for a moment in silence, reflecting our individual memories of a nice man . The chorus then in tribute, sang “My Wild Irish Rose”. A favourite of Teds, I can tell  you it wont be sung in a more moving way for some time.

Ted  was always full of humour and laughter. He showed his keeness to sing and regularly would be seen  making extra time to learn songs.  He never seemed to be stuck for words when communicating .  He had always wanted to sing  and he was happy to try anything.

A genuine man, unselfish and easy to get on with.  He was regarded with great affection.

Ted founded 'Arrow Cycles' in North Hykeham 17 years ago and was co-owner with his wife Carole.

He was an integral part of the community and worked hard for charity. He represented Great Britain as a motorcycle racer and won the BEM for his services to sport.
Later he worked as a Chief Technician in the RAF for the Red Arrows and the Vulcan bombers. He also help re-build the Lancaster bomber currently based at East Kirkby.

Ted had only been a member of Harmony Lincs since January 2006, but his short time with us will leave many fond memories.
